Skyline Drive – Audio CD

I forgot to mention something that was a huge help in the drive along Skyline Drive.

If you are a senior (age 62) you can get a National Parks Pass for free. It’s good for you, plus anyone traveling with you. We used my Mom’s at Harper’s Ferry (saved $6.00) and at Skyline Drive (saved $15.00). It’s called a Golden Age Passport and is a lifetime permit. The permit is also good for 50% of the established recreation use fees (canoe rentals, etc).

Also, Maryland has a Golden Age Pass from the Maryland Forest, Parks, and Wildlife Service. This entitled the user (and immediate party) free entrance to use facilities at any State Park.

Also, we purchased an audio tour (CD) along the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. I believe they have two versions, depending if you are starting on the north or south end.

We found this very helpful and informative. It told of the history of the park and told you were to stop and what to look for.
