Reverdy Lewin Orrell Jr – Condition Update

DadBaltoMuseumIndustry.jpgNOTE: I’ve placed a link in the upper right section of the blog labeled ‘ Reb Orrell Jr – Condition Update’. You can click on the link at any time to view all of the entries.)

The photo at the left was taken at the Baltimore Musuem of Industry about 1995. He dontated this printing press to the musuem at that time.

My father’s birthday is next Tuesday, October 10th. He will be 86. Anyone wishing to send him a Get Well card or Birthday Card may send to him at:

Reb Orrell, Jr.
1713 Fairview Avenue
Halethorpe, MD 21227

Yesterday, my father was taken off oxygen for the first time since Friday morning. He was able to get out of bed and do a lap around the unit. He also met with the physical therapist and was able to climb a few stairs without problem.

The doctors are considering sending him home in a few days – maybe a week. The feel there isn’t anything more they can do for him with the fungal phenmonia in the hospital that can’t be done at home.

The leukemia chemo treatment is on the back burner. Nothing more will be done in this area until, and unless, the phenmonia is brought under control.

I have mixed reactions about them sending him home. Obviously, he will be glad to get home; however, I like the idea of 24 hour care. Also, in the hopsital, his blood and vitals are constantly monitored. If he needs plasma or blood, it is ordered for him immediately. This won’t be the case at home.

He was strong yesterday and resting comfortably.
